About HORKA

For almost 70 years the Dutch family company HORKA has inspired equestrian enthusiasts all over the world with quality products for horse & rider. HORKA has extensive knowledge and experience in designing, developing and producing equestrian products. By collaborating with organisations like the KNHS and professionals like the van Silfhout family, experiences with existing equestrian products can be turned into new, innovative ideas and products.

We work wit hall riders in mind; young and old, recreational or performance-oriented, but also for everyone who loves the outdoor life and likes to explore. Our products match the needs and wants of these enthusiasts and have resulted in a wide range of equestrian and outdoor products.

Our mission is to provide high-quality and innovative products at the right price-quality ratio, in order to achieve the maximum possible benefit for the company, its employees, suppliers, retailers, society and the environment. Aspects such as mutual respect, pride, cooperation and customer service focus are very important.

History

HORKA International B.V. is a family business founded in 1956 by Mr A.E.J. Horst. What started with manufacturing hats and caps in an attic room has grown into a total supplier of rider clothing, equestrian equipment and stable products.

In 1986, HORKA introduced the first approved safety helmet to the European market. In the following years, HORKA continued to expand its range of products with the 2nd brand RED HORSE in 2005, in 2010 there was further expansion of the range of horse products and in 2014 a niche in outdoor products related to equestrian sports was filled. Currently with the 3rd generation at the helm, HORKA sells its products worldwide to more than 30 countries.

Sustainability

HORKA is constantly evolving when it comes to sustainability. We take a practical and logical look at possible solutions & alternatives that improve the environment and our society.

HORKA develops high-quality, sustainable products with a longer lifespan that are partly made from recycled raw materials. These products are produced in measured and limited productions to avoid as much surplus in the market as possible. Around 75% of the packaging materials of our raw materials, semi-finished and finished products are recycled.

In terms of production and transport channels, we focus on outsourcing production to companies with the lowest possible environmental impact and certified production. Over time, production will slowly be moving back to the local market in Europe and its surroundings, reducing transport and handling requirements.
