HORKA 65 years!
HORKA is celebrating its birthday this year...
From craftsmanship in hats & caps in an attic room, to total supplier of equestrian, horse and stable products; HORKA International B.V. located in Zwolle, the Netherlands celebrates its 65th anniversary this year!
History
HORKA was founded in 1956 by Mr. A.E.J. Horst. Besides the production of caps, hats and outerwear, Mr. Horst was also involved in the development of riding caps. Repeated success led to a demand for riding clothes at home and abroad. This led to HORKA's decision in 1976 to focus entirely on equestrian fashion. In 1986, HORKA introduced the first approved safety helmet to the European market. In the following years HORKA continued to expand its range with the 2nd brand RED HORSE in 2005, in 2010 further expansion of the range of horse products and in 2014 a niche in outdoor products related to equestrian sports.
Gradually, the production was transferred abroad, so that the location in Zwolle could serve as a logistics centre and office. HORKA, with by now the 3rd generation at the helm, sells its products worldwide to more than 50 countries.
Product development
HORKA believes it is important to innovate in order to improve product performance within the equestrian sector. From innovation on models/design, materials, to technological applications on fabrics. For example, several products are equipped with 'Super-X technology' with water and wind resistant properties and there are durable treatments of the fabrics with 'Polygene' which ensures odorless and fresh sportswear with an extended lifespan.
Through years of expertise and contacts in the market, HORKA also produces many special and private label collections, whereby a specific design is developed and produced for parties such as the military, the police and, for example, influencers.
Service & support
HORKA offers targeted service to its customers for all questions concerning the products and the sales process. Where possible, HORKA also offers support on special sales days / promotions and events.

Technological developments are enabling HORKA to get its message across to consumers ever more effectively. By creating atmospheric images, both in the form of photographs and videos, HORKA can better show its customers and also the end users what it has in mind as a brand with the collections it publishes. By means of cross-media communication, these photos and videos can easily be shared with a wide audience.
Equestrian sports & cooperation
The involvement with the sport for which the products are developed is very important. Sport developments are closely followed and directly implemented in new products and the production process. Since 2018 HORKA is the 'Official supplier' of the KNHS team & fan apparel. In addition, HORKA has a cooperation with four sponsor riders to know; Diederik van Silfhout, Ingeborg Klooster, Jordy Wilken and Kristy Snepvangers.
They represent HORKA in various disciplines of equestrian sports. The purpose of these partnerships is to support and strengthen each other through shared product knowledge, contacts and media expressions.
Future
Socially responsible entrepreneurship remains the core of the family business HORKA International B.V. Passionately searching for that one product and coming up with the right collections and products for the equestrian. The recycling process, reducing waste and extending the life span of products will help us to continue our business in the future. The passion for the horse and the sport, leads to special ways.... a road that HORKA will continue to follow. It brings us 'The Natural Feeling'.
